5th Grade Lego Mindstorms Robotics Club

9/7/2025 4:20 am

Is your child interested in robotics? Do they want to know more about coding? Prospect's Lego Mindstorms Robotics Club is a club for 5th grade students to learn to design, build and program robots using Lego Mindstorms EV3 kits. Because students will work in small groups to complete projects created specifically for EV3, regular attendance at club sessions is important.

*Please note that students will not be able to take the robots home, as all parts will be reused from session to session.

At this time, the club is available to a maximum of 15 5th-grade students and will meet on the following Wednesdays after school until 4:20 p.m.:

September 17 & 24
October 1, 8, 15, 22 & 29
November 5, 12 & 19

Please note, if needed, December 3 will be used as a make-up day.

Please complete the Google Form ( https://forms.gle/b3NKpndpGcVvTnDr6 ) to request registration for the robotics club prior to Monday, September 15. If more than 15 registrations are received, a random number generator will be used to determine participation. You will be notified of your child's participation in the club or waitlist status on September 15.

If you have any questions, please contact Meredith Bailey (mbailey@d181.org).

Art Club Kids: Afterschool Art Enrichment at Prospect

9/7/2025 4:10 am

Register at https://www.hisawyer.com/maureen-claffy-art/schedules/activity-set/1568163
Wednesdays, 3-4:15pm, 9/17-11/19 - $265 for 10 weeks

Created by artist Maureen Claffy, Art Club Kids: Draw and Paint for Life is a screen-free STEAM program. This analog art program supports higher levels of mathematical reasoning by teaching an understanding of geometric shapes in space. It also supports emotional regulation and builds self-confidence and communication skills.

The program adapts to the changing needs of young artists and is completely new every week and every school year.

We turn geometric shapes into objects to capture children's imaginations while imparting technical drawing skills, using high-quality art supplies.

- Session 1: Circle -> Sphere, Oval -> Cylinder
- Session 2: Square -> Cube, Rectangle -> Rhomboid
- Session 3: Ribbon, Triangle -> Pyramid

All supplies are provided for classroom use and students also receive a custom-printed ArtCard with the week's lesson.

All teachers are personally selected by Maureen and fully trained in her method. Fully insured, documentation provided. All teachers pass background checks.
