2023 Fall Book Fair

9/30/2023 7:48 am

JOIN US FOR PROSPECT LIBRARY’S
2023 FALL BOOK FAIR
PARTNERING WITH ANDERSON'S BOOKS

Our Prospect Librarians, Book Fair Committee, and Anderson’s Book Fair Company, are bringing the latest and greatest books, right to our School Library! You’ll find all kinds of books, from Minecraft to Cooking! It’s a great opportunity to buy gifts for family and friends (or yourself) AND support your school library.**

We also have the opportunity to help our very own Teachers build their libraries. Make sure to check out the *Teacher Bins* to donate a book to your child(ren)’s classroom library.

When:
* Thursday, October 19 from 8:20am-3:30pm
* Thursday Night from 6:00-8:00pm for Prospect’s One Author, One School Night
* Friday, October 20 from 8:20am-3:30 pm

Important Info:

* Kindergarten Parents are welcome to shop during Book Fair hours; your child(ren) are welcome to shop with you before or after school.

* Students in Grades 1-5 will visit the fair as a class at the times listed below. You are welcome to send money with your child to shop during this time; we will help your child manage the purchasing process. Parents are welcome (and encouraged 😉) to join their child(ren) when they shop with their class!

* We accept CASH, CHECK (made payable to Anderson's Book Fair Company) and all major credit cards.

**A portion of all Book Fair sales directly benefit the Prospect Library. Mrs. Swanson uses these proceeds to purchase new and exciting titles and replace “well-loved” books, building an even better library to foster our children’s growing minds!

We are looking forward to shopping with you in a few weeks! Any questions, please email bookfair@prospectschoolpto.org

Help Us Help Our Sister School

9/30/2023 7:26 am

William Penn School Services over 275 students in grades Pre-k-8th grade in the Lawndale Neighborhood of Chicago. Prospect has had a robust partnership with Penn for over 15 years in a variety of ways, including coat drives, raising money through the Book Fair's Pennies for Penn coin collection, providing school uniforms for students, providing paper to be used by students and staff, and planning and funding a joint field trip for Penn and Prospect students.

Prospect also funds and runs a reward Store called The Ollie Store for the Penn students. The Ollie Store provides a positive reinforcement system for student attendance and behavior. It is stocked with “fun” items students can purchase with “Ollie Bucks” and each student receives a free book each time they visit. This year, with each Ollie store visit, we hope to stock the teacher lounge to show the teachers our appreciation for everything they do for the Penn students.

If you’ve ever said, “I’m so glad my teenage years weren’t shared for the world to see,” this talk is for you! With social media and constant connection, the boundaries of privacy for children are stretched thin. Heitner shows parents how to help tweens and teens navigate boundaries, identity, privacy, and reputation in their digital world. Growing Up in Public empowers parents to cut through the overwhelm to connect with their kids, recognize how to support them, and help them figure out who they are when everyone is watching. Check out this flyer for more information!
