Sip and Shop in Clarendon Hills This Friday

Stock up on new spring arrivals (just in time for spring break!) and your outfit for the Prospect Spring Fundraiser at Vintage Charm this Friday. When you're done shopping, head over to The Open Door to celebrate. A portion of the sale at both locations will benefit the Prospect PTO. To go orders at The Open Door are also included in this fundraiser, so grab a couple bottles of wine for your bar cart at home! Make sure to mention the Prospect PTO at checkout. This fundraiser lasts all day, so stop by any time.

 

Juggling Fun In PE

We just finished our juggling unit and the students really do LOVE it! They often ask where we purchase our items. Many items can be found on Amazon, gophersport.com, and schoolhealth.com. Juggling is a great visual tracking activity that can help students struggling with reading!

5th Grade Music Program: Through the Years at Prospect School

Prospect 5th grade students are excited to present their annual music program, "Through the Years at Prospect School" on Friday, March 8 at 2:00 p.m. in the Prospect gym.

 

All family and friends are invited to attend. Please see the attached flyer for more details, including student attire.

 

Students have been working to translate their most treasured and favorite memories of their time at Prospect into music, dance, chants, and songs.

3rd Grade Music Program: This is How We Do It - A Day in the Life of 7 Kids From Around the World

All family and friends are invited to attend the 3rd grade music program on Friday, March 15, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the Prospect gym.

 

Students will take you on a musical journey around the world to experience a day in the life of seven kids from different countries.

 

Each child will help tell the story by Matt Lamothe by speaking, singing and moving to capture the elements of music and play from around the world.

 

Author Visit for K-3

Prospect Elementary is delighted to welcome author Victoria Scott-Miller on Monday, March 4th.

 

Ms. Scott-Miller will talk with K - 3rd grade students about her career as an author and discuss her new book, Miss Edmonia's Class of Wildfires. In this picture book, students on a field trip to an art museum explore the museum's collection and discover the character traits that make them special.

To order a personalized, autographed copy of this book, please return this order form with payment (cash or check payable to CCSD181) by Thursday, February, 29th. If you miss that date, there will be a signed books available for purchase through March 11th.

 

The D181 Foundation Summer Camp Expo

Mark your calendar for the D181 Foundation Summer Camp Expo on Thursday, March 7th, 6-8pm in the HMS Cafetorium.

 

This "one-stop shopping" opportunity to learn about a variety of summer activities for students is free and open to the whole community.

 

It's a great opportunity to talk with representatives from various organizations. Bring your kids. There are lots of fun giveaways and interactive activities!

 

Free Online Tutoring Service Available through the Clarendon Hills Public Library

The Clarendon Hills Public Library now provides library card holders access to free online tutors!

 

The expert tutors at Tutor.com can help your children work through a tough homework problem, improve their writing skills, study for a test, review a difficult concept, and more!

 

Tutors work 1-on-1 with your child through text or voice-chat and use an interactive whiteboard to share work and ideas. Tutors are available every day from 3pm to10pm (excepting certain holidays).

To use this service, go to tutor.com/clarendonhillspl or click on the Tutor.com link on the library’s Research Resources page of its website. You just need your CHPL card and any Internet-connected device.

 

Topics covered include math, science, English, social studies, writing, and more. Expert tutors will work with students in kindergarten through 12th grade and can even help with AP®-level and intro-level college coursework. This is a free service for CHPL card holders. 5th Grade Lego Mindstorms Robotics Club

Is your child interested in robotics? Do they want to know more about coding? Prospect’s LEGO Mindstorms Robotics Club is a club where 5th grade students will learn to design, build and program robots using Lego Mindstorms EV3 kits. Because students will work in small groups to complete projects created specifically for EV3, regular attendance at club sessions is expected. Through the design process, students will develop engineering and coding skills in building and programming robots.

*Please note that students will not be able to take the robots home as all parts will be reused from session to session.

At this time, the club is available to a maximum of 15 5th grade students and will meet on the following Tuesdays after school until 4:15 p.m.:

March 5, 12, 19
April 2, 9, 16, 23, 30
May 7 (The 14th will be used as a make up day if needed.)

Please complete this Google Form (http://tinyurl.com/RoboticsClubSpring24) to request registration for the robotics club prior to February 28. If more than 15 registrations are received, a random number generator will be used to determine participation. You will be notified of your child’s participation in the club or waitlist status on March 1.
