Family Reading Night
10/12/2024 11:08 am
The animal familiars are coming soon! We hope all of our Prospect artists and adventurers are hard at work planning and building their family animal familiars to be displayed at school October 21st-25th, including at Family Reading Night. Please label your animal familiar with your student’s name(s) and grade(s). We will provide index cards on the morning of October 21st for anyone needing to label their animal creation.
We also hope you are enjoying reading The Mythics: Marina and the Krakken at home together! Our One Book, One School festivities will culminate on Thursday, October 24th from 6-8pm at Family Reading Night! Whether you have a few minutes or the whole evening, we invite you to join us to enjoy a variety of activities, including: a reading and meet and greet with author of Lauren Magaziner, meeting a variety of reptiles and bugs with Crosstown Exotics, a photobooth, opportunities to learn about octopi and make an octopus craft, fish for words, and much more!

4th Grade Opera for the Young
10/12/2024 10:48 am
Prospect 4th grade students are in the midst of learning about opera. They discovered what characterizes the opera genre, the voice parts typically used in opera, and they will explore how other art forms collaborate to create a production with sets, costumes, dance, lighting, props, scripts and acoustics. To culminate their experience, they have the opportunity to collaborate with Opera for the Young, an organization that specializes in adapting some of the most beloved operas into student-friendly performances geared specifically for kids.
On Friday, October 25th at 1:30 p.m. in the Prospect Gym, Opera for the Young will present Mozart's The Magic Flute with cameo appearances by our 4th grade students. Every 4th grader will perform as part of the "Alien Council of Wisdom." All friends and family are invited to attend. Please see this flier for more details, including costume information for 4th grade students.
